Swindon company announces worldwide recall.
The announcement applies to CR-V models built between 2002 and 2006 for a potential failure within the master power window switch.
In a statement, the company said:
"Under some severe operating conditions, water, rain or other liquid may enter the drivers window and reach the master power switch (for the electric window mechanism). Water or other fluids may enter the switch resulting in impaired function of the switch and possible overheating. An overheating switch may cause smoke or melting or potentially, fire. There has been one instance of switch failure (but no fire) in the UK.
There are more than 70,000 affected CR-V's in the UK and Honda's customer department is in the process of notifying the relevant authorities, get owner names and address details from the DVLA asking them to contact their Honda dealer, get their car checked and if necessary, have the relevant parts changed. The work will be carried out free of charge and will take around an hour."
