Both of the female victims were teenagers at the time of the attacks.
Vaughan has also been places on the Sex Offenders' Register for life and has been banned from working with children after his release.
Detective Sergeant Rob Findlay who led the cold case review, released the following statement after today's sentencing:
"This case has been about two female victims of rape who were assaulted by Orville Vaughan when they were teenagers.
"The offences were similar in that there was coercion and force involved. The victims were also of similar age and vulnerability at the time of the attacks.
"The rapes happened a long time ago and caused great distress to the victims at the time and in the years since. I would like to commend their bravery in coming forward to give evidence.
"Justice has now been done in this case."
