A week of action will start today to tackle crime in the town.

A number of agencies will spend next week in the North Central Locality to address concerns raised by the public.

The Week of Action, run by Swindon’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP), will take place from Monday (18 June) to Friday (22 June) and will balance enforcement action, tackling enviro crime such as litter and graffiti, and consultation with the community.

The Week of Action will involve a number of agencies including Swindon Borough Council departments such as Housing, Community Safety, Trading Standards, Highways, Neighbourhood Wardens and councillors. Other agencies such as the police, Swindon Commercial Services, Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and Her Majesty's Court Service will also be involved.

Residents are encouraged to meet the various agencies throughout the week to tell them of any particular problems which may not have been highlighted.

Swindon CSP, using intelligence from their partners, will be focusing on vehicle crime, cycle theft, shed/garage break-ins and burglary.

Richard Palusinski, Head of Swindon CSP, said: "While Swindon is normally a very safe place we do know that we have been experiencing some problems in these areas.

It is important that people don’t allow complacency to make them a victim of crime."
